These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Remiti Pay platform, website, and mobile application operated by Remiti Innovations Ltd. ("Remiti Pay", "we", "us", or "our"), licensed by the Bank of Tanzania. By using our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
To use Remiti Pay you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a resident of Tanzania or an eligible sending country
- Have a valid government-issued ID
- Complete our identity verification (KYC) process as required by Bank of Tanzania regulations
- Not be on any sanctions list or prohibited from using financial services
2. Our service
Remiti Pay provides cross-border money transfer services from Tanzania to 41+ countries. We act as a licensed payment service provider, not a bank. Our services include:
- International money transfers via mobile money (M-Pesa, Airtel Money), bank transfer, or cash pickup
- Real-time exchange rate display with zero hidden fees
- KYC-verified account creation and management
3. Your account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure and confidential
- All transactions made from your account
- Providing accurate and up-to-date personal information
- Notifying us immediately at support@remitipay.com if you suspect unauthorised access
We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.
4. Fees and exchange rates
Exchange rates and any applicable fees are displayed to you before you confirm a transfer. The rate is locked for the duration shown on your transaction screen. By confirming a transfer, you accept the displayed rate and fee. We do not charge hidden fees. The recipient's bank or mobile money provider may apply their own receiving charges, which are outside our control.
5. Prohibited use
You may not use Remiti Pay to:
- Send money obtained through illegal activity (money laundering, fraud, theft)
- Finance terrorism or sanctions-prohibited activities
- Circumvent export controls or trade sanctions
- Send money to prohibited jurisdictions
- Provide false information during registration or transactions
Violation of this clause may result in immediate account termination and reporting to relevant authorities.
6. Transaction limits
Transfer limits apply based on your KYC verification level and applicable Bank of Tanzania regulations. Limits are displayed in your account dashboard. We reserve the right to modify limits in response to regulatory changes.
7. Cancellations and refunds
Once a transfer is submitted and funds have been debited, cancellation may not be possible if the transfer has already been processed. If a transfer fails, funds will be returned to your account within 3–5 business days. For disputes, contact us at support@remitipay.com within 30 days of the transaction.
8. Intellectual property
All content on the Remiti Pay platform — including the logo, design, text, and software — is owned by Remiti Innovations Ltd. and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of our platform without written permission.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Tanzanian law, Remiti Pay is not liable for:
- Losses arising from incorrect recipient details you provided
- Delays caused by third-party banks or mobile money networks
- Losses due to circumstances beyond our control (force majeure)
- Indirect or consequential losses
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the value of the transaction in dispute.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania. We are regulated by the Bank of Tanzania under the National Payment Systems Act.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email and by updating the date above. Continued use of our service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
